Reminder

Lab attendance is required.

The attendance requirement can be seen in the Lab Policies link at the left. The requirement has been in place from the beginning of the semester. Please re-read the information in the Lab Policies if you do not recall the policies.

If you must miss a lab contact your lab instructor and explain your situation. As stated in the Lab Policies a missed lab may be made up at another lab section, space permitting. There is one more lab section at the Stark campus in this semester. The entire CS schedule at the Stark campus can be seen at http://www.stark.kent.edu/Academics/upload/Fall2009Schedule.pdf

You are expected to attend your regularly scheduled lab. Attending another lab may only to be done due to illness or similar unusual circumstance.

If you attend another lab you must do one of the following:

  1. Turn in your completed lab report to the instructor in the lab that you attend. That lab instructor will get your report to your lab instructor.
  2. If you do not complete your lab report have the lab instructor of the lab you have attended sign the report page of your lab. Complete your report and turn it in with your notes, on time, to your lab instructor.

Again, as stated in the Lab Policies:

Lab Reports will not be accepted from those that don't participate in the lab.

Weekly Labs

You will use your lab manual for the majority of your Labs. However there will be some Labs that will be posted on this site and the links to those labs will be listed on the left hand side column under "Other Weekly Labs".

The Lab you will perform today is Lab 1 from your manual textbook. You will start Lab 1 from your manual as soon as you have completed the reading of the instruction.

Labs and Lectures

The lab portion of CS 10051 provides experience with the concepts discussed in the lecture portion of the class. The lab and lecture are not totally tied together. The labs are written so that they may be done without the lecture portion of the class being at exactly the same material.

Remember that each Lab is an experiment. As any experiment repetition of the conditions must be performed when the experiment fails. Failure may draw to some important and valuable information and lesson, so do not be frustrated when that occurs. Ask for help any time during the lab when you need it.
