Rory Block is a Mississippi Blues Guitarist who has based her studies on the roots of American music. She has performed all over the United States and in multiple countries. I was lucky to see her in concert at the Westgate Auditorium a few years back when they held a festival there for the Roots of American Music. There were other performers there, but Rory was my favorite. I had already been listening to her music for quite some time prior to this festival.

I also play guitar and Rory is an inspiration to me. I am far from where I want to be when it comes to playing my guitar, but hope someday to be able to play the blues like she does. I want to make my six string acoustic guitar sound like a train the way she does.

Kudos to all women who dedicate themselves to making their dreams come true!
