The Third Three Months

In the front yard with Mommy on a cold February afternoon.

Ava's vitals at Six Months:

18 lbs.

28 inches

Grandma Rita and Grampa John stop by for a visit, just shy of Ava's seven-month mark.  She is seen smiling in between her many attempts to pull at Grampa John's goatee.

A nice picture of grandmother and granddaughter. (Picture by Val/Mommy).

Relaxing on the floor with Daddy when Mommy got home from work.  (Picture by Val/Mommy)

On one of her many trips in the stroller once the weather finally warmed up.

Learning about gravity.

She certainly knows what a camera is now, doesn't she?

Before and after I said "Time for a nap, maybe?"  It obviously wasn't time yet...not for her at least.

But eventually it is....

Ava's advice: never pass up a chance to grab at Grampa John's shiny watch.

Actually, a shiny watch on either grandfather will do just fine.

On Easter morning, it's time for a much-needed bath.  Our mission was to get that hair to settle down a little!

A few minutes later...mission accomplished!

But later, at Aunt Leslie's, her hair goes back to its normal state.  Oh well.

Keeping in touch with cousins Val and Brianna at Easter.

With three of her cousins, Ava watches a loud helicopter take off after the pancake breakfast at MAPS in Canton.  She's not as bothered by the noise cousin as Megan is, probably because it isn't that much louder than her Daddy's guitar.  For a picture of the model that Grampa John made of the new hangar at MAPS, check out this page at the MAPS site.

The sunny day lets us get a closer look at that very unique head of hair.

The next day was "Hat Day" for the fun of it.  We all wore hats when we ventured outside for a little while.

He he...

She's all cheeks sometimes...

Everyone had to wear a hat....them's the rules...

Ando Hiroshige.  Plum Estate, Kameido.  1857.  From One Hundred Famous Views of Edo; Color woodcut.

Spring is here, and Ava does what the Japanese do when the blossoms come out--she gets as close to them as possible (what the Japanese call Hanami, or something like "cherry blossom viewing").  She's wearing the stunningly beautiful yukata that Masayo-san got her some time ago.  This moment was an apt metaphor for transience of life, as this tree was no longer blooming a few days later, and Ava won't fit into her yukata much longer.  Here's a larger resolution scan of this picture.

And another look at her outfit.....
