Into the Seventh Year I

Our little one's a first grader already.  Here she is waiting for the bus in the front seat of the car during the first week of school in late August.  She's grown up rather quickly, no?

"Is that my bus?"

With Brother Alec in the sandbox part of Ava's favorite park.

Another rite of passage...Ava lost her first tooth in September and its replacement came in quite nicely and quite quickly.

Eating Miso soup at our favorite Japanese restaurant a few days later.

Having fun with Cousin Meghan in the back of our car.

Helping brother Alec put grass clippings into the wheelbarrow on a warm September evening.  They work together well.

Dinner out with the family in mid-September.

At the bus stop at 7:45am....One happy about it, one not.

Surveying the damage done in our new back yard by the remnants of Hurricane Ike.

All of us (and Nancy) are in this one at the hair salon in October.  Brother Alec was already done with his haircut.

In the orange glow of the pumpkin tent at Dussel farm.  This was Ava's fifth year of going here, I think.

October means baseball!

Keeping her eye on the changeup as it comes in.

And it means the last few days to enjoy a bike ride.

These hugs are usually unscripted and cause me to lunge for my camera when I see them about to happen.  I've missed many, but I got this one.

Having fun with Mommy while putting on her Halloween costume for the first time.  The witch costume was a bit of a departure for Ava, as you know if you've seen her previous coustumes.

A bit later that night at the local supermarket, which had trick-or-treat stations set up throughout the store.

We realized that if you give Alec his bottle, he'll sit still for one of these at-the-bus-stop photos.  We also realized that he looks a lot like his Opa when you do that.

Two mornings later...the bottle ploy is still working.  This was the last time it was warm enough to walk all the way down the street to Ava's bus stop.
