Open Positions

Announcing an opening of a research fellow, postdoc, position available with a start date of November, 2022 .

The research fellow position is in the area of electronic-structure modeling in the group of Professor Barry Dunietz at Kent State University. (See https://www.personal.kent.edu/~bdunietz).

The appointment is in the general areas of computational chemistry and condensed matter. Ab-initio approaches to study material properties at the interface of molecular and bulk systems will be developed and implemented. Relationships of the optical, electronic, and mechanical properties to functionality of the materials will be investigated. The computational research will be pursued in close collaborations with experimental and computational-focused groups. The specific projects will be determined following the interests of the successful candidate.

Applicants with strong background in physics, chemistry, material science or related fields are encouraged to apply. Computational research experience in one or more of the following areas is an advantage: Time dependent DFT methodology, frozen density embedding, QM/MM, density functional design, many body methodologies, energy and electron transfer, molecular bridges and nanoscale science.

Salary is competitive with an excellent package of benefits included. The initial appointment is for one-year, with possibility for renewal by mutual agreement.

Applications including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of 2-3 letter writers (previous advisers or collaborators) should be sent by email to bdunietz _At_ kent.edu. The application may include a short abstract of research results and reprints of up to two most important papers.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
