Nominative as Subject

Most of the time that that nouns appear in Nominative case it is because they are the subjects of the skeleton.  Here are some examples of nominative subjects.  The nominative subject is underlined.

canis cenam Scintillae edit.  "The dog eats Scintilla's dinner"

Diem nox premit, dies noctem, "The night follws the day and the day the night."   This sentence has two transitive active skeletons (with the verb understood in the second clause).  Nox and dies are in the nominative and so are the subjects.

Other Nominative Uses
