Present Active Partiple

The present active participle is formed by taking the present stem, dropping the final -o, adding the connecting vowel and adding -ns (for the nominative, -ntis for the genitive):
Verb Participle
amo, amare (1st) amans, amantis
debeo, debere (2nd) debens, debentis
rego, regere (3rd) regens, regentis
capio, capere (3rd -io) capiens, capientis
audio, audire (4th) audiens, audientis

Present active participles always decline like 3rd declension adjectives:

Amans, amantis (m., f.)

Nom. amans amantes
Gen. amantis amantium
Dat. amanti amantibus
Acc. amantem amantes
Abl. amante amantibus
Amans, amantis (n.)
Case Singular Plural
