The reactions of alkynes closely parallel the reactions of alkenes. Addition reactions are typical. In these reactions, the CºC triple bond is converted into a C=C double bond. The alkenes formed from these reactions can undergo a tautomerization (see the hydration reactions below) or react further to produce alkane derivatives.
