Hello my fine Asian Study stus!!! Hungry for learning more about Asia, expanding your mind, and gaining experience? Maybe not, but are you hungry for extra points? OF COURSE YOU ARE! What do you have to do to start receiving oodles and boodles of valuable points? Read the info below, and remember, this project is worth a maximum of 4 points and is one hundred percent mandatory!

First, you must, must, must attend the Silence Broken screening here at Stark on Friday, April 18, 2008. The event starts at 7 PM and will be held in the Main Auditorium of Main Hall. Contact Dr. Hart if you need more info. The Silence Broken event will have Dr. Kim-Gibson screen her award winning documentary on the Korean "comfort women" who were made into sex slaves for the Japanese military in the 1930s and 1940s.

Second, you will need to write a take-home paper about the session discussions and how they are relevant to the lessons of this course, of course! Be sure to invoke course readings and ideas in an intelligent and compelling fashion.

Third, turn in that brilliant, typed, 2 page paper NO LATER than the start of  the Monday class following the event. The Silence Broken assignment MUST BE TYPED, have your name, assignment title, course name, be double-spaced, and should be no more than 2 typed pages long. Assignments that do not follow the prescribed format or have excessive writing mistakes will not receive full points, and that is a bad thing!

"Whoa! I can't make the screening. My life is impoverished! Does that mean I can't get points?" Not at all! You may now have a greatly impoverished life, but you can still get those valuable points! How? Simple. Go to the library here on campus, check out the movie "Silence Broken," and then write a 3-4 page paper on the movie. See? All is not lost.

Interested in learning more about the movie and its producer? Then travel to Dr. Kim-Gibson's webpage at http://www.twotigers.org
