How do you pull this off and get those valuable credit hours? Not hard at all. First, you need to contact me, Dennis Hart, and get information on the Hanyang University program. Second, you must contact the advising office at Kent to have the Hanyang University courses transferred back to Kent. |
||
|
For the Hanyang University portion of the program, you have the option of enrolling in either 2 or 3 courses at Hanyang University. The courses are all upper division and are worth 3 credit hours each. To decide which courses you want to take, you need to visit their website at Hanyang University. Once there, you will find links that will take to pages for courses, registration, schedule, and more. WARNING! Most universities in the USA will need to approve the Keimyung courses BEFORE you head off to Korea. At Kent, this process is not hard, it will take maybe one week total, and MUST be done. If you are currently attending Kent State University, then you need to schedule an appointment with the folks in advising for your College (A&S, Education, etc.). Next, show up for the appointment with the advisor. The advisor will help you fill out the "Transient Approval Form." After that, your advisor will take care of everything. He or she will make sure the form is approved by the appropriate department and the Center for International and Comparative Programs. Once it is approved, you will receive a copy of the form. Then contact me with the the good news and you are all set! When you go to the appointment, be sure to take with you the course syllabi and course descriptions of the Hanyang University courses you want to take in Korea. These are essential! Where can you get these wonderful course descriptions? Just stop by my office at Stark or send me an email and I will provide you with the course descriptions for Hanyang University. If you are coming from a school other than Kent, you will need to go to the international studies/student services/registrars office at your school and talk to them about the courses at Keimyung University. I will be more than happy to answer questions either you or they might have on these courses. |

| Of course, if you have any questions, want more information, or simply aren't sure what to do, feel free to contact me by phone (330-244-3440) or email (dhart@kent.edu). | ||

Notes and additional information. |
| * Credit hours - Kent State University operates on a semester system and most courses are worth 3 credit hours. If your university is on a quarter system, or some other schedule, the exact number of hours may vary. |
| * 3 hours are with Kent State University. The remaining 6 to 9 hours are with Keimyung University. To have all these credit hours transferred to your home university you will need to first talk with your university's registrar about transferring these hours. |
| * Next, Keimyung University will provide you with a transcript of your classes at their school. Professor Dennis Hart will then help you transfer the credit hours to your home university. |
