World Politics - Clogging the MUN |
|
Hello my fine stus! Now that you are all comfortable in the semester, you most assuredly are ready to gather and collect more of those valuable points. To help you in your endeavor I have concocted a delightful project for you all. Starting today and ending on Wednesday of week twelve, you will be keeping a class log (aka a clog) for the MUN. What you need to do is to watch the international news for events/issues germane to your MUN country, keep a typed list of them, and write a short, two-page paper (aka a clog) on these events/issues. The clog is due on Thursday, week twelve. You must follow the format for take-home papers. No late papers are allowed. So, just to recap and make sure everything is clear: · Watch the international news concerning your MUN country. Keep a clog on what is happening in and by your country. · Do NOT use US media sources for this project, even if your MUN country is the USA. You must use international news sources, preferably from your MUN country. · Where can you find such fantastic news sources? Try the World Politics resources link on the class web page. Or try these websites - www.worldnews.com, www.world-newspapers.com, World Newspapers. · Write a short, two-page clog that adheres to the format for take-home assignments. Be sure to tell me your MUN country! (duh.) · The clog should explain: 1. The key events/issues faced by your MUN country. You don’t need to record every single, itty bitty, tintsy tiny event. (“Whew,” sighed the stus.) 2. Analyze why these events are important, using the perceptions of your country. · IN ADDITION, attached to the clog, you must also hand in a one page typed log of the news stories and their sources. For example: 3/28/05 - French President Jacques Chirac met with Japanese Empress Michiko in Tokyo on Monday. Chirac said a compromise could be found over their competing bids to host a fusion reactor. International Herald Tribune, http://www.iht.com/ · The clog is due NO LATER than Thursday, week twelve of the term. And in case you are interested, this project is worth 4 generous points for your participation grade. What a great deal! |
