To prepare for Wednesday's discussion of managing ocean chemistry, please:

1) Read this article on the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Web page, found at http://www.epa.gov/OWOW/estuaries/about3.htm

2) Look up and read one article on the subject of pollutants in the ocean. (This can be a newspaper article archived on the web, and might be tied to estuary pollution, for example).  Before 4:00 pm on Tuesday March 9th, email the instructor (dpalmer@kent.edu) the title and source of your article (and web link, if it is an electronic source), and a one-paragraph summary of the article.

3) As you are reading the article think about the following:
   (a) How did this problem get started?
   (b) Has this problem occurred before, or is this a new problem?
   (c) What are the short term and long term consequences?
   (d) How can society approach a realistic solution?
