We will use a fluorescence microscope coupled with a CCD camera to image an area of interest on a chip. Fluorescent dyes and analytes are injected through blue tubes into each microchannels. The red fluorescence light emitted by the fluorophore is then collected by the microscope. Since each microchannel has width about 30 micrometers and thickness about 8 micrometers, the entire array of microchannels can be measured simutaneously by the CCD camera. The small size also makes an experiment much faster with far less materials consumed compared to conventional assays. |
