Aricles published in magazines, journals, and newspapers are great sources for current information and emerging trends. This page will provide an overview of several methods of locating articles on your topic:
Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature
(big green volumes located across from the Magazine Room in the LMC)

The Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature is an index to articles in about 200 popular magazines such as Time, Consumer Reports, Good Housekeeping, Sports Illustrated, and National Geographic.

Usually you will look things up by subject heading in the Readers' Guide. Under each subject heading, you will find citations to magazine articles. A citation contains information such as the author and title of the article, the name of the magazine in which the article appeared, the volume and/or issue number, page numbers, and date of publication.

Example of an entry in the Readers' Guide:
SPACE STATIONS
NASA's space station approved by Congress. E. Marshall.
      Science 239:19 Ja 1 '88

How to read the citation:
The subject heading in this example is SPACE STATIONS.
The title of the article is "NASA's space station approved by Congress."
The author of the article is E. Marshall.
The article appeared in the magazine Science in volume number 239 on page number 19.
The date of publication was January 1, 1988.
