I was watching "Jaque Pepin: Cooking with Claudine" and it suddenly dawned on
me that the music for his show sound an awful lot like Andrew Bird's "Glass
Figurine". Has anyone else noticed this or am i just trippin'.

Subject: great series on PBS

hey there's this great series that was shown on my local PBS stations this
week, called "I'll Make me a World"

Sorry i didn't tell you about it earlier...i didn't know about it till it
was on.

anyway, it's all about the incredible accomplishments of black artists
(writers, musicians, poets, dancers and more) in America. It's a 3 part 6
hour series. It's cronilogical in its studies of art...and particularly to
your interests--- Jazz

Super super super series, with tons of great history. My family watched the
whole thing twice! Check your local listings to see if it's on by you. But,
you can also go to this address:

http://www.pbs.org/immaw/

and see a lot of good stuff about the show, including film clips and lots
of other great goodies. I highly reccomend that ya do!

Also on pbs.org is multimedia about that show most of us missed called
"Mississippi: River of Song" Here is the address for that:

http://www.pbs.org/riverofsong/

I hope everyone checks this stuff out. It's integral to understanding the
history of jazz, swing, and the Zipper's whole "Hot music" song. Jimbo
would eat this stuff up.

Ive never been on a list that did a move like this one has, but I do know we
have a LOT of lost and confused sheep left on the other list. some have signed
up but get no mail, some have lost the original address and can,t find us,(
although I,m trying to gather as many as I can), or they were sleeping and
missed the whole deal altogether. If anyone else is still on both lists,
please help bring them around.

Hey all,

I haven't had any input in a while. Apologies. But here's something new for
you...Squirrel Nut Zippers have a song on the "Blast From the Past" movie
soundtrack. The song is an old American standard: Trou Macaq. So, add that to
your SNZ collection. As to what else is on it.....you can check it for
yourselves, but it's got tunes from CPD ("So Long Toots"), Everclear,
Dishwalla, R.E.M., Randy Newman, etc. I don't know if i'll be buying this
myself but i just thought i'd bring it to your attention. Thanks, and make
sure you enjoy yourself.

Have a stellar day,
Emily

No, no....the song is entirely a creation of the Zippers, to my knowledge at
least. I was just making a little joke because it's so NOT an old American
standard. It was actually a Ben Folds Five reference, because that's what Ben
said when he performed a cover of Oasis' "Champagne Supernova." Well it was
funny when HE said it. Sorry for confusion.
