Marine Sediment Sampling - Taking sediment
samples from the marine environments poses great technical challenges whether
the work is in coastal regions or the deep sea. Two international programs
provide the academic community with the technology and expertise to accomplish
this task. These are the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program and the IMAGES Giant
Piston Coring Program. The IODP replaced the Ocean Drilling program (ODP)
which was itself predated by the Deep Sea Drilling prgram. Click on the links
