I am currently working to complete a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology. Additional areas of emphasis in my education include a minor in Psychology and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. I have developed a special curiosity in atypical populations since childhood due to a close relationship with my older sister who has learning disabilities. This experience has motivated me to acquire a Disability and Community Inclusion Certificate. I am interested in understanding the importance of communication for a person’s quality of life. I enjoy learning how a person’s cognitive, environmental, and biological processes all interact and influence a person’s speech and perception of speech. In the future I hope to work with atypical populations, helping to improve their communication abilities and influencing their quality of life.
