STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
To receive classroom accommodations,
students
with documented disabilities must present a letter
to the instructor
indicating the appropriate accommodations.
It is quite possible that on occasion
a student,
without a letter in hand, may approach an
instructor about accommodations.
If that should
occur, the student will be directed to the Coordinator of
Disability
services. If accommodations are then
determined to be appropriate, the student
will
be given a letter to present to the appropriate
instructor that will allow
them to implement the
accommodations. It is never appropriate to ask
the student
about the specifics of their disability.
A student may voluntarily offer, however, information
that may
assist the instructor in how best to meet
the specific needs of the student. As
a civil rights
statute, the Americans With Disabilities Act
mandates faculty
adhere to accommodations
indicated in the letter. Occasionally implementations
of an appropriate nature may be discussed with
the student or reviewed by the
Coordinator
in the campus SAS office.

(NB: There may be times when
a student is not aware of above procedure
because the University overlooked the fact
or other extenuating circumstance
and has no note to that effect. Based on
the above, such accommodations may
be instituted at the instructor's discretion
awaiting arrival of official notification.)
