        This is a non-progressive, two-hand, 16-bar pattern danced to waltz music.
        Couples take waltz hold around the perimeter of the dance floor with gents having
                       their left sides toward the center; the
line of dance is anticlockwise.
        The pattern is also danced free that is, dance in the available space as others
                       dance either the same or another Irish waltz rhythm pattern.
        Gents dance first on the left foot and ladies dance initially on the right foot.
        Bar counts (quantities of measures) for dance patterns are shown in bold.

           brought together1 that is, CROSS, CROSS, CROSS,
           DOWN, TOUCH-BEHIND, CLOSE-FRONT;
REPEAT repeat the crossover steps above except leading with the other foot
               (gent's right, lady's left); take waltz hold as the pattern ends4;

REPEAT repeat from   ball-red-shiney.gif (110 bytes)    as desired16.

   * Use of the butterfly instead of the waltz hold allows more space
          for knee movements by partners as they dance the crossover
          steps.  At some sites, however, the waltz hold is danced
          throughout the sixteen-bar pattern.
