    This 16-bar progressive, two-hand dance is to begin with dancers in a side-by-side line,
              in the line of dance (anticlockwise around the perimeter of the dance area).
              If danced non-progressively, partners just dance back to one another at the
              Change partners lines below.
    The line-of-dance is anticlockwise around the perimeter of the dance area.
    The step is almost walking – give a gentle lift with the trailing foot.  When dancing-in-place
              while turning, make one step for each bar of music;  turn one-quarter with each
              step (doubling).
    Couples should be about four feet from one another to facilitate partner-changes.
    This two hand dance is also known as HIGHLAND BARN DANCE.
    Other versions are danced.
    Gents begin forward on the left foot and ladies begin forward on the right foot.
    Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are shown in bold.

  SET FORMATION   BARN DANCE or HORNPIPES (Variable BARS)
Step and Kick : ball-red-shiney.gif (110 bytes) in open waltz hold, dance forward in the line of dance and give
          a gentle kick at the end2;
Dance backward : dance backward to the place-of-beginning2;
Separate and clap : partners separate dancing sideways (gents left, ladies right); clap2;
Change partners : gents dance sideways to his place-of-beginning and each lady dances
          on an angle to the next gent to her front2;
Step and Kick : in open waltz hold, dance forward in the line of dance and give
          a gentle kick at the end2;
Dance backward : dance backward to the place-of-beginning for the new couple
          (gent’s original place)2;
Turn in-place : dance one anticlockwise revolution in-place, in waltz hold
          (no threes; see heading)4;
Repeat : repeat from   ball-red-shiney.gif (110 bytes)   as desired.
