Gents dance forward on the left foot and ladies begin forward on the right foot. |

Steps: for the Polka Figures, dance a gentle (low-to-the-floor) battering |
| step of 1 and 2 and 1-2-3 (batter-in, batter-out); for the Reel and Hornpipe | |
| Figures, dance an ordinary step, step, 1-2-3 when advancing and retiring | |
| and lift-2-3-4 otherwise. | |
