This set is from the Black Valley of County Kerry, Ireland is also known as |
| the BLACKWATER SET. | |
| |
Back the lady quarterhouse: In waltz-hold, dance this four-bar pattern four times : |
| with gents dancing forward and ladies dancing backward, dance to the position | |
| on the right2, then dance one clockwise turn (revolution) at that position2. | |
| |
Back the lady house: In waltz hold, with gents dancing forward and ladies dancing |
| backward, dance to the position on the right2; house to home continuing | |
| anticlockwise as couples revolve clockwise, that is, dance a traditional housing | |
| pattern6. At some sites the BACK THE LADY HOUSEs are replaced | |
| with a traditional/regular/standard full house of eight bars. | |
| |
Ladies chain: With a waist-level hold for all contacts, ladies give right hands in the |
| center then left hands to the opposite gent; the lady dances anticlockwise around | |
| the gent and the gent follows the lady (no arch); ladies do not chain on the | |
| way home. | |
| |
Swing and House in waltz hold. |
| |
Gents begin forward on the left foot and ladies begin forward on the right foot. |
| |
Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are shown in bold. |
| |
The total bar count for each Figure includes an eight-bar introduction of music. |
