    Gents dance forward on the left foot and ladies begin forward on the right foot.

    First side couple is on the left of the first top couple.

  SET FORMATION   FIGURE 1 -- POLKAS (128 BARS)
Dance an ordinary polka step, down-2-3.
All couples: in waltz hold :
          back the lady to the first position on the right (four threes)4;
          house to the next position on the right (two revolutions)4;
          repeat the preceding patterns to home8;
          full house8;
          swing8.
Top couples: REPEAT "MARKER"  ladies long chain :
          with a waist-level hold for all chains, ladies grasp right hands in the center
          and dance on to the opposite gent (who has danced to his partner's
          position); couples grasp left hands (no arch) and the lady dances
          anticlockwise around and the gent follows; chain with right hands in the
          center and dance on to original partners; couples grasp left hands (no arch)
          and dance anticlockwise around; ladies again grasp right hands in the
          center and dance two clockwise turns there; dance on to the opposite
          gent; couples grasp left hands (no arch) and dance anticlockwise around
          and the gent follows; ladies dance right-shoulder-to-right  to home without
          chaining16.

                    the receiving gent takes the lady right-hand-in-right and turns
                    her anticlockwise under an arch to-place4;
repeat the preceding patterns except dance with the couple on the left8.
repeat from   REPEAT "MARKER"  twice to re-establish original partners (with each change,
          top ladies dance anticlockwise and side ladies dance clockwise)16.
