Dance in waltz hold. |
| |
An eight-bar introduction of music is often played for the sixteen-bar, |
| non-progressive pattern. | |
| |
Couples take positions around the perimeter of the dance floor with gents facing |
| forward (anticlockwise) and ladies facing backward (clockwise) in | |
| the line of dance (lod). | |
| |
The pattern is also danced free; that is, dance in the available space as other dancers |
| dance either the same or another waltz pattern. | |
| |
Gents dance forward on the left foot and ladies dance forward on the right foot. |
| |
Steps: Part of the sixteen-bar, pattern is danced with a HESITATION STEP; step in |
| the lod with the leading-foot then bring the trailing-foot beside the leading-foot | |
| with a TAP-PAUSE; weight is only partially transferred to the tapping-foot during | |
| the pause; step in the lod with the pausing-foot then bring the trailing-foot beside | |
| the leading foot with another tap-pause. | |
| |
Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are shown in bold. |
| |
Documentation is based upon a video workshop led by Pat Murphy. |
