    This set is from Valentia Island of County Kerry, Ireland.
    Crossover-chain:   Low follow – The gent takes a waist-level hand (or forearm) hold
              with the opposite lady and follows her around at his position (no arch);  the ladies
              only catch right hands in-the-center following the little Christmas of Figure 4.
    Swing in waltz hold.
    Dance a gliding/low-to-floor  polka step (down-2-3) with gents beginning on the left foot
              and ladies dancing first on the right foot.
    Bar counts (quantities of measures) for patterns are shown in bold.
    The total bar count for each Figure includes an eight-bar introduction of music.
    First side couple is on the right of the first top couple.

  SET FORMATION   FIGURE 1 -- POLKAS (96 BARS)
Top couples: REPEAT "MARKER" crossover to the left (clockwise) to opposite, gents leading, right-hand-in-right;
          turn the lady under anticlockwise (the long way) as both dance to-place4;
crossover to the left to home, gents leading, right-hand-in-right; 
         turn the lady under anticlockwise as above4;
swing in waltz hold8;
ladies: crossover right-shoulder-to-right-shoulder and chain around the
          opposite gents left-hand-in-left (no arch) and crossover to home
          (no touch in center during the crossovers)8;
crossover to the left to opposite, gents leading, holding crossed-hands (drop left
          hands after two bars); turn the lady under anticlockwise as above4;
crossover to the left to opposite, gents leading, holding crossed-hands (drop left
          hands after two bars); turn the lady under anticlockwise as above4;

Top couples: REPEAT "MARKER" advance and retire once, right-hand-in-right; while retiring, turn-the-ladies-under
          anticlockwise and only the first top couple form an arch4;
pass through:   second top lady dances under the arch, the second top gent
          passes through on the left and dances around (behind) his partner to place;
          the arching couple lower hands and turn clockwise to place as a unit
          without turning-the-lady-under4;
repeat from   REPEAT "MARKER"    with second top couple forming the arch8.
Side couples: repeat from   REPEAT "MARKER"    16.
All couples: repeat from   REPEAT "MARKER"    except the opposite couples arch first32.
   
Alternatives:   At some sites 1) the order-of-arching does not change,
        or 2) the REPEAT by Tops then Sides is omitted entirely.

crossover to the left to opposite, gents leading, right-hand-in-right;  
          turn the lady under anticlockwise as in Figure One4;
first top gent and second top lady advance and retire twice; dance
          in left-shoulder-to-left then in right-shoulder-to-right8.

Top couples: REPEAT "MARKER" ladies: crossover right-shoulder-to-right-shoulder and chain around the
          opposite gent left-hand-in-left (no arch) and crossover to home
          (no-touch in center during the crossovers)8;
first top couple swing in waltz hold for eight bars while the second top couple
          advance and retire once in waltz hold4  and house across and leave the
          lady beside the first top man; as ladies face into the set, the first top gent
          takes the ladies' outside hands4.
trio advance and retire but the solo gent retires and dances in-place4;
trio advance to solo man; turn ladies beside the solo gent by pulling the ladies'
          hands up and out4;
other trio advance and retire4;
advance and pull the ladies' hands up and out to form a circle-of-four4;
little Christmas8;
repeat from   REPEAT "MARKER"   with the other top couple leading.     Alternative:   At some
          sites, ladies take right hands as they break from the little Christmas
          and begin the chain/crossover.   All other chains of the set are no-touch
          center (that is, crossover with chain around the opposite gent)40.
