Noriko Fujii began her studies of piano at the age of four.
While residing in Japan, Noriko was a regular participant at Hikobayu, a selective
summer program for young musicians. From early years, she received
valuable coaching from Sakiko Nagayo and Setsuko Kawamura at Hikobayu.
Following her move to Texas with her family, Noriko attended the Texas Conservatory
for Young Artists (TCYA) for three consecutive years, during which time she privately studied
with David Grice.
Noriko was also a scholarship student at The Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) as a pupil
of Andrew Markow. Her involvement in both TCYA and RCM
enabled her to take part in master classes with many distinguished artists,
including Yoheved Kaplinsky, Stephen Prutsman, Cecile Ousset, and Robert
McDonald. Noriko's current interests in music are the 19th-century pianists and
pedagogues, the 20th-century French piano music, and the piano and vocal music written by
Franz Schubert (1797-1828).
