A description of your project

For this project, your team will have to choose five of the most important historical figures of the twenty first century: a politician, a scientist, a sportsman, a person from the entertainment industry, and an artist. These people who have done something important in the twenty first century might be of any origin from any country of the world.  

To complete this project you will have to:

• Choose five important figures of the twenty first century; 

• Negotiate with your partners and narrow your choices down to five historical figures;

• Justify your choice (explain why you think those people are important to the twenty first century); 

• Do some research on these people’s biographical information (where they were born, in what families and conditions they grew up, what language(s) they speak, what their professions are, their positive/negative characteristics, etc.); 

• Describe how these people contributed (their achievements, actions, inventions, innovations, ideas, etc.) to the twenty first century; 

• Determine what kind of information about your chosen leaders you would like to include into your project;

• Decide if you want to include pictures/video/audio materials representing your idols or or their works;

• Analyze, compile, and organize your ideas;

• Choose the best format to present your decisions;

• Plan and design your final product;

• Present you project to class;

• Evaluate your project;

• Consider how much time you have (8 weeks), and develop a schedule to assign tasks for each of your group members.

• Develop vocabulary related to biographical information as well as to the the areas where your international idols belong
• Use English to do research and negotiate with your partners

Requirements

To successfully complete this project, you will complete

1. A report
   • Your report can be a video guide, an audio guide, a web page, a PowerPoint presentation. You and your group must decide the best way to present your information. Your guide must represent the best research, the best design, the best writing or speaking, the very best English that you and your group are capable of. Your content should be clear, correct, and accurate. The content should demonstrate what you have learned about your topic.
2. Research
   • Your project should reflect thoughtful research. Your research may be formal research (looking at books, magazines, online), or informal research (talking to your team mates, interviewing people who know about your topic).
3. Project Diaries
   • At the end of every week, you should complete an online Project Diary in which you reflect on your learning.
4. Vocabulary
   • You should keep a vocabulary list, or make vocabulary cards.
5. Surveys
   • You will complete 3 surveys during this project: one at the beginning, one in the middle, and one at the end.
6. A Presentation
   • You will present your completed project to your classmates.
7. Evaluation
   • At the end of the project, you will be asked you to complete an evaluation of your project in which you reflect on your experience.
