Bio

Rebecca Anderson was born and raised in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She attended Kent State University and received her BFA in Crafts concentrating in Jewelry, Metals and Enameling with a minor in Art History in December 2007. Her work tends to deal with themes of struggle and social conflict. Often, her work uses these topics to confront and acknowledge issues to ignite social change or recognition. She uses similar visual elements such as repetition and surface design within her work. Anderson has exhibited locally in Ohio. She was awarded several scholarships, most notably the Easter Seals Joe Paterno Endowment Fund Scholarship. This was awarded for her contribution of a graphite drawing in which several hundred prints were made and auctioned to sponsor education for children with disabilities. Also she won first prize in the Sixth Annual Small Works Competition in the Kent State's Downtown Gallery Exhibition in Nov. 2007. After finishing her education at Kent State, she hopes to attend graduate school in the near future.
