Metope relief from the south side of the Parthenon depicting a battle between the Lapiths and the centaurs. This is a relitively small panel but perfectly displays the pause in motion a characteristic of High Classical art. The dramatic X shaped catches the viewer in the moemnt. Symbolizes the triumph of reason over animal passion.
