Assignment:
Write a 4-5 page essay on the following (you must have at least 4 fully typed pages. It is perfectly fine, though, if you go over 5 pages):
Revise your previous essay, and use a second analytical/argumentative article or chapter from a book written by the author or by someone the author refers to as a means to further defend and support the points you make. You MUST make reference to this second source in your revision in at least TWO of your SUPPORTING paragraphs (in other words, not in the summary paragraph, introduction, or conclusion).
This second source must be:
- Analytical or argumentative
- At least 7 pages in length.
- From a scholarly source
Portfolio Requirements:
- All materials from the first portfolio submission, including editing changes, if required
- Notes on the secondary source, including
- Bibliographic information (author, title, publication date, etc.) in MLA format.
- The topic, thesis, and target, or intended audience.
- A 1-2 page summary (single-spaced) of the new source, including 3-4 main points made in the body of the source, AND specific examples from it (quotations and paraphrases) that demonstrate the author’s use of examples, data/statistics, other viewpoints, and/or other sources.
- A rough draft, due in class Monday, Feb. 28
- Peer-critique, done in class Monday, Feb. 28
- Self-critique, done in class Monday, March 7
- The final draft, which must be
- Typed
- Pages numbered in upper right-hand corner.
- At least 4 full pages, with 11 or 12-point font, and standard margin settings
If any of these materials are missing from your portfolio, or not completely done, I will not accept your portfolio.
Reminders:
- The rough draft is due on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28. Remember: If you do not have a complete rough draft on the due date, you can receive no higher than a "C+" regardless of work completed on it.
- IF YOU DO NOT SUBMIT THIS REVISION, WITH ALL ITS PARTS IN THE PORTFOLIO, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE AN “N” FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT, REGARDLESS OF YOUR GRADE ON THE FIRST DRAFT.
The final portfolio, with the final essay, is due on MONDAY, MARCH 7.
