ENG 102
Group Presentation
Presentations should be 20-30 minutes long. See me one class meeting before your presentation. Approach the material as if you are teaching your classmates, and try to get them participating. You may ask your classmates questions, or give them a writing activity, or a test, or whatever. Your group will be in charge for that block of time.
NOTE: It is your responsibility to meet as a group outside of class time.
Grade
Your grade will be based on:
- Notes on TWO articles assigned for the presentation
- Notes on ONE supplemental piece (web site, newspaper article, interview, book/journal article, archival piece, etc).
- 3 to 4 questions written out for class discussion.
- Your classmates’ evaluations.
- Overall delivery of presentation, including an honest attempt to get the class engaged, and sincere effort at discussing the material.
Notes
Notes are due on day of your presentation. Notes may be handwritten.

- Author, title, and date of original publication
- The type of article it is: historical analysis, case study(ies), theoretical, analysis, or argument
- The target, or intended, audience
- The general subject or topic
- The author’s thesis, or what she/he is saying about the subject/topic
- Three (3) particular points made in the body of the article from 3 different sections within it.
- For the supplement, write
- The title, author, and date.
- A one-paragraph description of it.
- 2 to 3 noteworthy features of it
Anything extra your group does for the presentation, such as distributing handouts, constructing a class activity, and so on, will also aid the grade.
