Sibelius Directions

  • You need to save the file to your flashdrive.

  • To save it: Right click on the link and select "save as".

  • Change the part of the file <yourname> to your actual name

  • After you have completed the hard copy in PENCIL, in the computer lab double click on the file and it will automatically load into Sibelius. Unless you have a copy of Sibelius you need to work in the computer lab.

  • Complete the project as directed, save it and email the completed file to sbirch@kent.edu as an attachment.

Basic Note Input Directions

  • The first chord is given - Not always are the notes correct!

  • The easiest way to enter pitches is to click on the first note with a white arrow (press escape until it is white).

  • The arrow will turn blue or green depending on the part - Blue is voice 1 and the stems go up - Green is Voice 2 and the stems go down -

  • Play the notes on the keyboard selecting the correct values with the keypad. You must re-enter the first note.

  • For example to enter the Alto part click on the initial note, then press the same pitch on the keyboard and then continue playing the pitches selecting the values as necessary.

  • The Alto and Bass parts will have a green arrow while the Soprano and tenor will have blue arrows.

  • Before switching to a different part, press escape to make the arrow white again (select)

  • The note value window is a template for the keypad

  • To change a note value click on the note and select a new value with the keypad.
