To open a file in Sibelius:

1. right click on the file
2. select "save target as .... " Replace <yourname> with your actual name
3. Save the file on a floppy or a folder or some other removable device
4. When the file has downloaded the "Download window" will appear
5. Select "Open"
6. The file should open in Sibelius
7. Type in your name

Using Sibelius

Cursor:
When the cursor is:
white you can select notes
blue you are entering notes in the top voice
green you are entering notes in the top voice

To make the cursor white press the Escape key (Esc)

• Write out the assignment with a pencil
• Input each voice one at a time
• Click on the first note play the same note again
• If the note values are all the same play the following notes in succession
• If the note values are different select the appropriate note values with the keypad before playing the note.
• Repeat for the successive voices

When you are done, select the entire score (control-A) and go to Plug-ins>Proof reading>check for parallel fifths and octaves

If you make a mistake click undo (control-Z)
