What past participants have said....

Thank you again for an outstanding and more in-depth look at the Multiple Intelligences theory. I enjoyed your class and also the evaluation of the MIDAS survey. I hope to use the MI information I learned from you in my future elementary educational endeavors and also with the teacher and student activities I coordinate at NASA Glenn. Linda Little, Office of Educational Programs NASA Glenn Research Center

I would certainly say that my thinking about MI has been developed very significantly since working on your online materials. There is so much information there and you pull together lots of different ideas and writers so that I can learn the specifics and get an overview.  Sounds like an ad doesn't it? Mike and I were saying today that we have both found the workshops really engrossing and wish that we had had more time to do the projects as we went through. There is a lot of information to take in
but it is paced very carefully.

Chris Neanon, Specialist Teacher Advisory Service, Portsmouth Education Authority, Portsmouth, England

This excellent workshop on multiple intelligences and The MIDAS provided a powerful new framework for many of the approaches that I have used over the years.  This theory pulls together a variety of separate strands and binds them into a powerful bundle.  I heartily recommend that teachers examine the multiple intelligences and use the MIDAS to validate existing practices and inspire new and dynamic growth.

Daniel McKeen, Elementary Teacher, 25 years.

I want to let you know how great the M.I. workshop was! It made me more aware of my students' abilities.  As everyone knows there are always new theories coming out, but I do think the MIDAS is the most complete, reasonable and applicable tool yet developed! Thanks for a great (and eye-opening course), and I promise to continue becoming a better & better MI teacher!

Dr. Shearer has developed a promising and much needed psychometric instrument which allows one to assess those areas defined as multiple intelligences.  The MIDAS has the capability of enhancing and expanding the student assessment process in new and more meaningful directions.  At a time when there seems to be countless "new" instruments on the market, the MIDAS offers a technique and theoretical orientation which is long overdue in school psychology.

What is most important is the high level of intensity, ownership, and excitement with which many Kent educators have embraced MI theory.  Shearer's MIDAS not only assists professionals with their implementation of M.I. in the classroom but also builds upon their enthusiasm for the practicality of M.I.  in daily lesson plans. Dr. Shearer has assisted practicing teachers to learn how to use their own multiple intelligences to achieve personal and professional goals and among these are included many experienced and excellent teachers of the Kent City School District.

I recommend that every educator further study Shearer's The MIDAS: A Guide to Assessment and Education for the Multiple Intelligences.  Each teacher should find Shearer's work theoretically sound and very practical in the classroom.
