UMI Sitebuilder trial Links for UMI fulltext

The UMI Sitebuilder Site provides tools for making master links to individual articles in the UMI image vault.  We hope to use these links in e-reserves classes, to point students straight to the UMI electronic image of the article, from the e-reserves service.  These tools allow the local admin at Kent to use the UMI account provided to Kent by OhioLINK via OhioLINK's contract with UMI.  With this account and these tools, we can build links that point directly to an individual article, and take advantage of any combination of three security features:  1)limit by date,  2)limit by IP, and/or  3)limit by link-specific password.  Since Kent's e-reserves site is password protected by reserve course, it does not need to be IP protected.  This fact allows users to avoid the extra work of configuring their browser to use the Kent web proxy server.  Along these lines, we suggest that we can use Sitebuilder links that are secured only by a date limit.  We set that date limit 3 years out from the link creation date.  It may later prove more realistic to set this limit to 1 year.  Next step is to test the Sitebuilder links to see if they offer any advantage over the links captured from the UMI site.  It is not know whether or not (thought it is strongly suspected) the certificates embedded in these captured URLs invoke an IP limitation.  The first test of these links should look for variations in access between the three types of links below:
1)the captured link that is labelled " LINK1 "
2)the Sitebuilder link with DATE & IP limit, labelled " LINK2 ", and
3)the Sitebuilder link with ONLY DATE limit, labelled " LINK3. "
