Introduction

Energy is all around us, and there is not a day that goes by where someone does not use energy. All beings, including animals, use energy to do work (mechanical energy) or breakdown food (chemical energy). Humans, mainly American citizens, use a large amount of energy to heat and light their homes (nuclear and electrical energy), play music (electrical and sound energy), or watch television (electrical energy).

There have been a lot of large achievements in the field of energy. People from all walks of life are always trying to develop inventions that use less energy to perform a greater amount of work.

Kent, OH has recently been named the most energy conscious city in the county. Because of this great achievement, the mayor of Kent has decided to dedicate a statue to one of the greatest scientists. One who, during their lifetime, has discovered great advancements in the fields of science and energy. Once a scientist is chosen, the statue will proudly stand in front of the Kent Free Library, a place in which knowledge is treasured.

May the statue’s presence influence and inspire all that pass by.
