The committee will meet in three days to select their candidate for the
Extra Special Energy Award!. You must do some research and put together a presentation of
your scientist/inventor.
Let’s get started! Below is a list of things for you to accomplish as
part of the nomination process.

With the other members of your team, research your
scientist/inventor. Each group will have to report on :
§
Biographical information
§
Three
interesting facts about their contributions to society (other than
science contributions)
§
Three
scientific contributions or inventions in regards to energy (light bulb,
steam engine…)

Each member should research his/her part, recording
all relevant information on the RESEARCH form
.
Note: you will be
evaluated on the research you complete, so be certain that you use the
form provided and record all the information that you find.

The research form must be complete at the end of one
class period. Use the links on the resources page to help you.

Using the research data you have completed, each
group must write a nomination speech to be presented to the
committee. A copy of the NOMINATION
outline must be downloaded and completed in order to have your
candidate considered for the award.

The final day will allow your group enough time to
complete your final draft and prepare for the nomination speech.
All speeches must follow the PRESENTATION guidelines
and will be delivered to the AWARD committee at the banquet.

At the award banquet, the committee will make their
decision based on your nomination papers and presentation. No note
cards and /or papers will be permitted during the presentation of
your inventor/scientist.

Your group will be evaluated according to the
criteria outlined in the rubric
. The rubric should be visited frequently to ensure that all
criteria is being met and that your group is on task.
