Introduction

You are visiting a certain country that has already been assigned to you.  While you are there your family sends you a postcard and asks how you are doing.  They ask about things like the weather, climate, and where exactly are you visiting.  Your family really misses you and wants to get something in the mail back from you.  They suggest sending a post card back to tell them all about your trip.  You will find all of the necessary information below.  The main goal of this quest is to learn about the different types of climates that exist around the world.

The Task

The end result of this project will be to create a postcard to send home.  Your task is to find valuable and important weather and geographic information that relates to your particular country.  You will want to give your family all the important information about your country relating to the weather and climate since that is what they want to here about the most.  Your postcard will contain all of the information that you want people to know about this great country you are visiting.

The Process

1.    First you will be assigned to a team of 3-4 students to work with.

2.    Each person in the group will need to have a particular role in the creation of your brochure.  For example, a weatherman to find weather related material, a clothing expert to find out the types of clothing that needs to be worn, a geographer to find location and geographical traits, or environmentalist to find the type of climate and the best times to visit your country.

3.    Make sure that you take notes on your country.

4.    Search the internet for facts that will help you discover information about your country.

5.    The links listed below can be used to help limit your searches.

6.    As you surf the internet, be sure that each member of the group has a chance to read and explore the internet site to find their particular information.

7.    Have enough information on you country that includes: average temperatures, best months/seasons to visit, weather, type of climate your in, and other things related to the conditions of your country.

8.    Don’t forget to pay attention to, or record important pictures, graphs, and maps.

9.    Now go ahead and research the country that you are sending your postcard from by looking at each link below.

Conclusion

You are now more familiar with a particular type of climate and the types of environments they are located in.  There is more then just one type of climate for you to discover.  Look at other group postcards in the class and try to find what might be similar or different from the one you created or even the one you live in.  Feel free to search the internet or the other links on the page to understand these differences better.
