The End of the First Year

Enough said, perhaps.  Sometimes he just has too much fun at daycare, then he conks out once he gets home and sleeps for the better part of 12 hours, with some brief feedings.

Alec and Uncle Mark provide lots of laughs for everyone at Grampa John's birthday gathering in early September.

More laughs with Uncle Mark that day.

I like this one, too.  The one dimple that Alec inherited from Aunt Sessie is evident here.

Crawling at Borders while Mommy and Ava look at books.

Sister Ava usually plays with Alec once we get him to his room at daycare around 8:00am.  The trick these days is to leave the room without him noticing and crying.

On a humid day, his hair begins to look a little like his sister's.

With Sister Ava on the small slides at the "Red Park."  A split-second after I took this, he launched himself forward to examine the woodchips 18 inches below on the ground...it's clearly on his mind here.  But I anticipated his rash move (all too common for him lately) and caught him.

He really did have fun on the swing, although here he seems deep in thought for a moment.  Maybe he's stymied as to how to reach the woodchips from up here in this thing.

Dinner time, coming up on the eleven-month mark.  Whenever my camera comes out, Alec laughs and conspires to grab it from me, as he's doing here.

This was "Wear Your Indians Outfit" day at daycare, but Mommy and I changed the rules a little and made it "Support Your Team" day instead, which got lots of laughs in Alec's pro-Cleveland Indians room (especially from Miss Karissa) on the eve of the Indians-Red Sox A.L.C.S.

Trapped in the shopping cart at Wal Mart, watching Mommy and Ava look at clothes.  I often have to pull out all of the slack in these buckles to fit him into these harnesses.

Grocery shopping in separate carts is the norm now.

A few hours later, getting a kiss from Sister Ava after she'd gone trick-or-treating as an Asian Princess.

Alec's first Halloween costume only stayed on him for a few minutes...he quickly grabbed at his garden gnome beard and stretched it out.  You can't even see his his cool black belt and baggy pants here, either.

"OK, that's not funny....Get it off me. Get it off me!"

The end of the first year already!  Alec's first birthday was not as elaborate as Ava's have been, but then she has a summertime birthday, and his is close to Thanksgiving.  We celebrated by opening a few gifts at Aunt Sessie's on Thanksgiving, when Cousin Brianna and Uncle Mark's birthday's were also celebrated.

A cool bomber's jacket from Uncle Brian's parents.

Happy Birthday, (not so) Little Guy!
