Road Trip

July 30-August 8

It was quite a long trip, but she did very well.  It couldn't have been too much fun in that seat for the entire 2250 miles.

The first stop was Cooperstown, NY, which she was obviously a little too young to appreciate.

But things were much better that evening, when she got her first dip in the ocean at the beach at Rye, New Hampshire.  The water was pretty cold, but she didn't mind at all.

Almost walking on her own.  Admittedly, walking in deep sand isn't easy for anyone.

Actual Lobster Traps, taken by actual tourist.

Waiting with Mommy for the start of the Lobster Festival Parade in Rockland, Maine.

Waving to one of the "Sea Goddesses"

One of the many lobster-themed floats.

And the finale of the parade.  Neptune arrives with the 2003 Maine Sea Goddess. I wonder if "Neptune" is aware of this site.

Finally...the Lobster Festival!  Ayuh! (which kind of means "yes" in Maine).

Lobstahs!  Wikkit cool.  Two for Ava, please.

Ready to dive in.  Just kidding....due to possible allergies, little ones like her shouldn't experiment with seafood for another few years, so she had her standard lunch-in-a-jar.  Still, I get the feeling that in Maine they start them pretty early on lobster.

On a whale watch trip out of Bar Harbor, Maine the next day.  Can you really call it whale watching if you can't see over the railing?

One of the whales that day.

And some others, farther away in the mist.

And a Puffin, floating in the calm ocean near his home at Petit Manan lighthouse.

With Mommy on the rocky Maine Coast later the same day.  It was nice to be there for the Maine summer, which lasts from August 3rd to 6th (local joke...wikkit funny).

At the Nubble Light House on Cape Neddick, Maine.

Wizard, one presumes.

Another outfit for another beach...Wells Beach in Southern Maine at the end of the trip.
