People Memorialized by the Monument

Return to the Project Overview        Move on to Step 2: Cremation

Step 1: Decide who will be buried in the monument

You will need to fill out a form for each monument that you create.  As many or as few people as you wish can be buried in a single monument (as long as the size of the monument is sufficient).  Fill in the following to indicate who will be buried in this monument.  You will check and fill in only one item.  This chart is only for primary dedicants.  Subsequent burials including children, slaves and freedmen are not included here.

Larger monuments like columbaria are better designed to honor multiple people.  Smaller tomb monuments like cippi and funerary altars have much less space for inscriptions and might be better suited to individuals.

The general practice was for a husband and wife to share a tomb monument.
