Assignment Grades

I keep track of homework and exam grades on an excel spreadsheet.  I will post your grades here from time to time, using a four digit number which I assigned you.  See the bottom of this sheet for some frequently asked questions about the four digit numbers.

Q: Who picks the numbers?

A: I do.  Each student has a randomly assigned four digit number.
It is unique to you.  I use each number once and never repeat it again. Ever.

Q: How do I learn my number?

A:  At the beginning of each term, I will send an e-mail to your KSU e-mail address with your number.

Q:  What happens if I lose my number?

A:  Come see me. Bring an ID and I will give it to you.  Sorry, I will not do this by e-mail.

Q:  Why don’t you use the last four digits of my social security number?

A:  Too much identify theft.

Q:  How secure is this system?

A:  It is up to you.  If you tell people your four digit number, it is not very secure.
Of, if you talk about your grades, it is probably not very secure either, for individuals can probably
figure out your number.  Aside from that, it is pretty secure.

Q:  What happens if I am superstitious, don’t like my number and want another?

A:   Sorry, I don’t provide that service.
