Just saw BOF at the Empty Bottle in Chicago and then the next night at the
Chameleon Club at the Empress Casino in Joliet-!- Two *very* different
shows. I'll post a more complete description later, but I had to give you
the highlights:
Andrew announces a BOF film, also titled: Oh, the Grandeur.
Kevin plays harmonica on a cover of Love & Rockets' Bound for Hell
and later spits up 'blood' and falls repeatedly on his face.
And as if that weren't enough...I'm going to see Knockdown Society on Wed
here in New Orleans.

I drove down from Grand Rapids to see this show and it was truly awesome. I
didn't expect BOF to rock out as hard as they did. During one of the
opening sets I was sitting at a table and my sweaty leg bumped up against an
electrical outlet. The jolt I got foreshadowed the energy coming from
Andrew's violin later that night, I think.
I also got to meet Andrew, buy "Music of Hair," and pay a mere $12 for a
pitcher of Guiness... all in all a good night.
I wouldn't mind seeing the set list from this night if you don't mind
posting.

Shaun is just sore because he hasn't gotten his stuff from Ken yet. But i
talked to the lovely Beth Mosher yesterday, and she said that her and Ken
were very wrapped up in the remodeling of their house (bathrooms, this
week) which is the honest to god truth, as they have been working on said
house forever.
Also, Mel Maxwell (tom's wifey) used to help Beth with all the merchandise,
and for obvious reasons, does no longer. So things are sort of awry out there.
So don't let Shaun get you down!! he's just a little upset about his
things. Beth told me she'd get his stuff out asap and throw in something
for "y'all to share" but i don't know what that would be, and Shaun told me
he doesn't like to share ;)
okay so think good things. happy thoughts. all is well.
And if it isn't, i am going there for a week in Agust to set everything
straight! hahaha

at the show there is a possible film premier on August 26 at the Hideout.

I had a problem with downloading the outtakes from the "Oh! Grandeur!"
album. The real player symbol is there, however, no sounds come out! I can
get sound out of the Thrills outtakes. The way that people can find them is
to go to the "order" link on the Bird page and click on his name when the
"Thrills" order form comes up. It will show the "Oh Grandeur" album and the
"Thrills" album. Needless to say, click on "Oh Grandeur".
It's funny how those two songs on the rykodisc site were squirreled away.
They weren't mentioned on the Andrew Bird site. It's almost as if they did
that on purpose; just to make use explore the site a little further. Well I
did! I must thank Elvis C. for that....

Wow, the show at the Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans was great.
The crowd was thin and tame but the band was ON and the sound in the club
was excellent and clean.
Jimbo was actually true to the songs and sang most of the lines (unlike my
delightful experiences at SNZ shows.)
Exquisite performances of Memphis Bound and Got Your Picture were the
highlights for me. Greg from Hobex was brilliant (gotta run out and buy)
Everyone sang, Jim took a turn on drums, and I didn't recognize Stu. Huh?
I swear he was replaced with a decoy or something sinister. Doesn't he have
long brown wavy hair? This guy (they called him Stu---HA!) had shoulder
length wavy blond hair. I didn't know who he was until he was introduced.
This scrambles my brain.

The show at the Empty Bottle was full, but the Casino show was empty. The
sad thing about Cuarto was that they didn't do it that night. It was down
as an encore but the tepid few apparently didn't warrant one.

the set list from the when i saw bof play with ray condo & the richochets &

I have a feeling that this (nobody being there) is going to happen whenever
A. Bird and company ever come to my city. Let's hope not! Does anybody know
how a band chooses to go to a city to play? Is it based on record sales?
Anyways, I just wanted to tell you guys that you can pre-order the Oh
Grandeur album from the Ryko site and as an extra bonus, they are giving
away Bird posters to the first hundred orderers. When I called there were
only three people ahead of me who put orders in.

that tiny little box did have all my stuff! I was amazed! the Joe Tullos album is really good. its more rock oriented than SNZ but thats fine with me! im tryin to get in touch with Jess about how to get the free thingies i got to a couple of ya. im thinking SNZ trivia that you have to get from the band members themselves or somethin.
sorry it took so long but the powers been out. and yes im in a much better mood as of late.
