Project Phase 2
M&IS 44048 Software Integration
Design
Continue with the analysis work from Phase 1.
Here you delve deeper and consider many things including but not limited to:
- Logon on procedures
- Screen layouts
- Reports
- Computations and calculations
- Data storage - record layouts
- File designs - database considerations if needed
- Menu structures
- Communication protocols
- Mass storage considerations
- Administrative controls
- General security/backup/restore considerations
The sum of your work should be a complete "blueprint" for the developers to follow in Phase 3.
Include all of this material in your Phase 2 Book.
Client Sign-off
Same as for Phase 1 - you are expected to get a signed form indicating your client's approval of your design.
Technology Investigation/Technological Proof
Acquire, install and test all candidate technological platforms/components identified in Pahse 1.
Document and summarize your findings.
Design/Select the technological architecture of your solution.
Think of this phase as when you deliver "Technological Proof" that your solution will work. Nothing less is expected.
Schedule
Someone on your team should be maintaing the project schedule.
This person should keep notes on where you are (on time? late? early?) and is responsible for spotting areas where re-adjustment of resources might have a positive impact on the project.
