EXPENSES NOT COVERED BY THE PROGRAM FEE

1)  Passport Fee--approximately $135.00.   All students, including international students, are required to have a valid passport (U.S. Citizens, allow at least 6 weeks for processing; expedited two week service is available for an additional fee).  See http://www.usps.com/passport/ for more information.

2) Passport photos--variable, but around $10.00 at local photo shops.

4) Travel connections to and from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport--variable

5)  Airfare to and from Europe.

6) Personal expenses:  varies with each student and includes such things as independent travel, entertainment, gifts, film, shopping, some lunches and dinners, snacks and beverages, post cards and postage, laundry, etc.  On average, students have budgeted a minimum of $500 to $1300 for these expenses.

Note: It is likely that your ATM cash card will work in the major cities (Geneva and Paris).  Some credit cards may now be used in certain ATM machines in larger cities. However, card holders must have their "PIN" number and should verify before departing that they can use their card abroad (those using letters instead of numbers may have a problem). An alternative way to deal with the money issue is to bring travelers checks and cash them at a local bank as needed. Banks may charge a service fee per check cashed, so relatively larger denominations (e.g., $100) may be desirable.
