Parent Perception of Physician Communication

Our research focuses on how parents would like pediatricians to discuss family stressors with them. This study will hopefully inform how to train pediatricians to better meet the needs of families. We are interested in parents of children from birth - 12 years.

This is an important topic for parents, and we are asking for your help! The study takes approximately 45 minutes to complete; parents are given a $25 gift card to common stores, such as Amazon, Walmart, or Target gift card to thank them for their participation. Parents will be given the gift card after completing the study.

For the study, we will ask you to read through a conversation between a parent and pediatrician during a doctor's visit, and then ask your opinion about the interaction. This interaction is written like a script, and follows an entire regular well-child visit. It includes statements from the physician, parent, and child. Your responses will be confidential. We will not ask for your or child's name. we will only ask for some basic information about your family, such as age of your children, race, and basic information about your income.

It is important to know that your answers and information provided in all aspects of this study will be kept confidential within the limits of the law but, due to the natures of the internet, we cannot guarantee that someone may access information without permission. You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time. Click here for a complete copy of our consent form.

Once you consent to participate, you will be directed to the questionnaires.

If you would like to ask questions, you can leave a message at the Pediatric Psychology lab at (330)-672-3785, or email us at ksuwildmanlab@kent.edu.
