Potential Graduate Students
Individuals considering graduate school with the intention to conduct research in alcohol consumption and alcohol-related behavioral risks are encouraged to email me at dneal2@kent.edu. My goal is to provide a training experience that will provide students the necessary skills to pursue an academic career. Graduate students will have an opportunity to participate in ongoing data collection and assist in manuscript preparation of based on existing data sets, as well as initiate their own projects as appropriate. My own training involved faculty advisors who were supportive of my goals as a developing scientist, and I hope to continue the tradition of strong and rewarding research training.

Of note, I am receptive to accepting students who apply to either the Clinical or Experimental doctoral programs. Given that my own research is not overly clinical in nature, a strong background in clinical theory is not required. I do, however, expect that all students in my lab will complete the Minor in Quantitative Methods that is offered in the department. For more information on the graduate programs here at Kent State, please see the section on graduate study on the Department of Psychology website.

Potential Undergraduate Students
Current KSU students who would like to gain research experience are also encouraged to consider joining our lab. We have a variety of research projects that undergraduate students can be involved with; please see our research page for more information. Potential research assistants should have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and preferably will have completed both PSYC 21621 (Quantitative Methods) and PSYC 31574 (Research Methods in Psychology). We prefer that students make a two-semester commitment to the lab.

Interested students should email me with a brief statement of interest in the lab. We will then set up a time to meet, discuss your interests, goals, and qualifications.
