Reduce those Spanish tYpos, spelling misTakes and Áccent errors
with the Microsoft® Word spellchecker

Did you know you can set up Microsoft® Word to spellcheck documents written in Spanish?
Sí, señores y señoritas, you certainly can. But first a few cautionary words:

  • Using a Spanish spell-checker is NOT a substitute for proofreading.

  • Microsoft® Word may not catch all of your errors.

  • Microsoft® Word may not be able to distinguish between homophones like (tea) and te (informal personal pronoun).

  • Nor will the program know whether you intend to say continuo (continuous) continúo (I continue) or continuó (he/she or you continued).

And still more cautionary words:

When you start playing around with the language settings, you are bound to see that tempting little option. . .

Don't do it!

Don't write your paper in English and hit the "translate" button.

It will only lead to trouble. . .
and maybe tears.
