Marger, Martin M.. Social
Inequality. (McGraw-Hill: Boston) 2005.
Bulman, Robert C.. Hollywood Goes to High School. (Worth: New York) 2005. Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to explain, in terms of the discipline, the social construction of reality involving judgments concerning status and role aligned with "race" and ethnicity. Of interest will be the study of limited inequalities that are of benefit to people in contrast with those major areas involving oppression and exploitation of the human social experience. A major goal of the course will be developing the sociological imagination in order that the student is aware of value judgments imposed on American "inequalities" and the theoretical explanations for inequality in general as opposed to "differences".
