Research activities and interests

I have involved in many geologic investigations, geotechnical studies, and environmental studies throughout my academic career. Main focus of my study in Nepal includes engineering geologic studies in Far-eastern Nepal Himalaya. I studied environmental impacts on urban infrastructures during natural hazards like earthquakes in the Tokyo area, Japan. I worked as a geotechnical student in professional areas like road constructions, landslide investigations etc.

My current research focuses on weak rock behavior under natural climatic condition. The natural process of weathering, erosion reduces the durability of the rocks. Many of the construction works including highway-railway construction, building construction, foundation design, and various natural hazards involve clay bearing rocks. Quantification of such slaking behavior in a more explicit way than just expressing results of the slake durability index would be a significant contribution to the scientific community.
